Rolex Submariner vs. Sea Dweller

When you glance at the Rolex Submariner and the Rolex Sea Dweller replica watches, you may think that they are the same watch. In fact, they do look very similar to the naked eye, but a closer examination will tell you that these two watches do have some very subtle differences. You just have to know where to look to find them.
Look at the watches. Yes, they look very similar. They are both created in the classic dive watch style that Rolex has made famous. Each watch has the same black dial and bezel with the same hands, and both have the Oyster bracelet with the Diver’s extension capability for wear over a diving suit, as many watches created by Rolex do. They both have a date window at the three hour marker.
But the differences end there. There are several differences that you can see if you look a little closer at these watches. The Submariner watch has a Cyclops lens over the date window on the three hour marker. This feature is fairly common in Rolex watches that are made for wear in and out of work. It was originally created for the Rolex Datejust watch.
Another glance will reveal the words “Rolex Oyster Original Gas Escape Valve” written on the Sea Dweller watch. What does this mean? This escape valve is created for the time period when a diver comes out of the water and is put into a tank to re-adjust to the lesser pressure out of the water. Hydrogen gas can get into the watch and mess it up, so Rolex created a pressure valve to automatically combat this situation.
Does the Rolex Sea Dweller feel a little heaver? That’s because it is heavier. The Rolex Sea Dweller has a thicker case and sapphire crystal, which allows it to be unaffected under even more water pressure. Where the replica Rolex Submariner watch can go to an amazing 1,000 feet unaffected, this watch can go to a staggering quadruple that amount.
Even though these two watches are made the same, it is clear that the Rolex Submariner is a great, high quality watch to be worn both in and out of the water, while the Sea Dweller shines under the water. They are both incredibly durable watches meant for divers, but if the diver truly lives in the sea, the Sea Dweller gains just a bit of an edge.
